British electronic musician Lara Rix-Martin records ambient and experimental material under the name Meemo Comma, exploring themes that range from nature and meditation to science fiction and religion. Earlier she performed in the duo Heterotic alongside partner Mike Paradinas, also known as µ-Ziq, before launching Objects Limited in 2016 to spotlight female-identifying and non-binary electronic artists. Under the Meemo Comma moniker she has issued the woodland-inspired ambient album Sleepmoss in 2019, the expansive 2021 set Neon Genesis: Soul Into Matter² that links Jewish mysticism with ’90s anime while referencing jungle and rave traditions, and the 2023 release Loverboy, which moves deeper into deconstructed jungle and breakbeat hardcore.

Born in Brighton, she first appeared on record as one half of Heterotic alongside Planet Mu founder Mike Paradinas. The pair delivered the 2013 album Love & Devotion, which included several tracks featuring Gravenhurst, followed by 2014’s Weird Drift that brought in guest vocalist Vezelay; both collections presented introspective left-field synth pop colored by references stretching from Fleetwood Mac to acid house. In 2016 she started Objects Limited, whose early catalog featured the EP Cyclizine issued under the alias Lux E Tenebris. Created during her second pregnancy, the EP took its title from medication prescribed for severe morning sickness.

Rix-Martin’s debut Meemo Comma full-length, Ghost on the Stairs, surfaced in 2017 and examined how Auditory Processing Disorder shapes her experience of sound. Planet Mu released the reflective ambient work Sleepmoss in 2019, addressing inner contemplation, the natural world, and reconciliation with mental health. The digital-only Guided Meditation followed in 2020. Her third album, Neon Genesis: Soul Into Matter², arrived in 2021 and incorporated Kabbalistic writings and Hebrew prayers alongside motifs and scores drawn from anime productions such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell. The breakbeat-driven, rave-oriented Loverboy appeared in 2023.
