Biography
Meg Bowles, working as composer, keyboardist, and flautist, fuses ambient electronica with classical traditions on recordings such as Inner Space, the 1993 album she issued through her self-established Kumatone label. Blue Cosmos, which appeared in 1996, sustained the atmospheric direction of her earlier output, yet that same year marked the start of her partnership with David Bilger, principal trumpeter of the Philadelphia Orchestra; the 1999 album From the Dark Earth then revealed a more straightforward presentation of her approach. She has additionally released two compositions for trumpet and synthesizer, “Night Sun Journey” in 1996 and “Places Where Rivers Meet” in 1997.
