Mendrugo

Mendrugo arose as a collaborative endeavor uniting American indie folk artist Josephine Foster with her husband, Spanish guitarist Victor Herrero, and Victor's brother José Luis. The ensemble made its first appearance on the 2013 compilation Your Victorian Breasts, issued by experimental Swiss indie Three:Four Records. After concentrating on separate endeavors for several subsequent years, Foster and the Herrero brothers reactivated Mendrugo in 2016. Its singular free-form approach draws strong influence from rustic Latin folk styles while incorporating input from Japanese woodwind artist Taku and Spanish folk musician Lorena Alvarez. The project's debut album, More Amor, appeared in summer 2016 on U.K. label Fire Records.
