Biography
Forming one of the earliest all-female crews in hip-hop, this Bronx outfit brought together vocalists Zena Z, Debbie D, Eva Deff and Sherry Sheryl with DJs RC and Baby D. Active in the same local circuit as the Funky Four, the group regularly backed that act at house parties and jams. Baby D’s sharp, confrontational delivery won her direct tutelage from Grandmaster Flash, which later led to solo contracts first with EastWest and then Polydor Records; under those deals she issued the albums Dream About You and ESP.
