Biography

Hailing from Oakland, California, singer, guitarist, and arranger Pablo Menéndez launched Mezcla in 1985. The band's Spanish name, meaning "mixture," mirrors its blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, traditional jazz, and rock. World-music label Khaeon issued the live album ¡Akimba! in 2002, captured at Havana's La Zorra y el Cuervo.
