Biography
Before launching his career as a solo performer, Michael Beauchamp lent support and joined forces with multiple indie outfits carrying Americana influences from Southeast Michigan, among them Chris Bathgate, Breathe Owl Breathe, and the Ambitious Brothers. He first entered the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti indie community during his enrollment in the University of Michigan musicology program, and once he completed those studies he took up guitar instruction with Joel Mabus. Beauchamp self-released his debut full-length, My Northern Voices, in 2008; grounded in bluegrass, old-timey, and Americana, the record recalled the work of Neil Young, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and Gillian Welch.
