Biography
Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, pronounced Michael O'Sullivan, stands out as a pianist and composer of rare ability who has maintained an equilibrium between stage performances and classroom instruction throughout his professional life. The recordings he issued fuse intricate orchestral writing with piano lines steeped in longstanding melodic traditions. He began teaching at the University of County Cork in 1969 and continued there until 1994, at which point he moved to the University of Limerick to serve as chairperson of its music department.
