Red Lambert on guitar and vocals, Alan Watson on saxophone, Gil Lucas on piano, Lenny Blanche on bass, and Mike Felix on drums and lead vocals enjoyed brief renown after their single “Mockingbird Hill” climbed into the UK Top 10 during March 1964, riding the short-lived bluebeat wave. Before Lambert joined and they shifted toward pop, Felix, Blanche, and Lucas had already performed together as a jazz trio. The Migil Four name was in use until Kenny Ball, the trumpeter, recommended adding Watson. Even with heavy media attention the band failed to match that achievement. They eventually settled into steady work on the cabaret circuit and finally split once Felix launched a solo career.
