Biography
Mike Paradinas, recording as µ-Ziq, and Richard D. James, known as Aphex Twin, rank among experimental techno's most respected names. During the mid-'90s the pair formed a one-time partnership that appeared under the Mike & Rich banner. Their only release, also known as Expert Knob Twiddlers or simply by the artists' names, unfolded as an easygoing, lighthearted set whose relaxed grooves echoed the lounge-funk Paradinas had already issued under the Jake Slazenger and Gary Moscheles aliases far more than any other work either musician had produced. The sessions took place in 1994, with James' own Rephlex label issuing the album in 1996. Once Rephlex stopped operations in the 2010s, Paradinas brought the project back out on his Planet Mu imprint in 2016, adding several previously unheard tracks and alternate mixes.
