Mike Plume

Leading his roots-oriented ensemble under his own name, Canadian singer-songwriter Mike Plume brings together guitarist Dave Klym, bassist Derek Mazurek, and drummer Ernie Basiliadis. Although these musicians share a long history as friends, Plume initially laid down his debut album, Songs From a Northern Town from 1993, using session players in Austin, Texas. Only with the 1996 release Jump Back Kerouac did he assemble his companions into a full band, earning an ARIA nomination in the Best Pop/Light Rock Artist on Record category. Simplify followed later in the same year as an acoustic collection completed by the Mike Plume band in less than six hours. Exposure gained from supporting acts such as Blue Rodeo helped expand their audience, which grew further with the 1998 album Song & Dance, Man that garnered additional recognition and acclaim. American audiences received this recording the subsequent year.
