Biography
Mike Snider ranked among the foremost names in present-day country humor, standing out through his trademark banjo technique, pronounced Southern accent, and endless humorous anecdotes concerning his wife Sabrina, known as "Sweetie." He came into the world in Gleason, TN, during 1961, acquiring his first banjo upon turning 16 and promptly claiming victories in multiple talent contests. At age 22 he captured first place in the National Banjo Championship. His Grand Ole Opry debut paved the way for an appearance on TNN's Nashville Now, where his distinct Tennessee accent triggered widespread audience laughter and soon steered him toward full-time comedy work, including a seven-season run as a cast member on Hee Haw. He secured Opry membership in 1990 and launched Opryland's The Mike Snider Show the following year while also releasing several albums.
