The brainchild of Daiki Tsuneta, a Tokyo-based producer, songwriter, and frontman of the Japanese rock band King Gnu, Millennium Parade operates as a creative collective whose sound spans alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music. Its forward-thinking approach stems from the diverse backgrounds of its members across music, film direction, visual effects, design, and illustration. Formed in 2019, the collective achieved its first major breakthrough the next year when “Fly with Me” served as the theme for the Japanese animated series Ghost in the Shell and later received a remix from DJ and producer Steve Aoki. Subsequent partnerships with J-pop artists Sheena Ringo and Char coincided with another film project, this time supplying the central theme for director Mamoru Hosoda’s 2021 feature Belle. Later in 2021 the group issued its self-titled debut album, a large-scale conceptual work drawing on Japanese folklore. The year 2024 began with the release of “GOLDENWEEK,” a propulsive, dance-oriented single whose frenetic energy reflected Tsuneta’s time spent in London and Los Angeles.
