Biography
Emerging under the wing of Farruko’s Carbon Fiber Music, Puerto Rico’s MILLY fused his polished R&B vocals with reggaeton and dancehall rhythms to shape worldwide anthems such as the remix of “No Te Enamores.”
Although the vocalist born Carlos Javier Sánchez Troche first built his reputation through smooth singing, his initial entry into the industry occurred via choreography, where he secured assignments alongside Jowell & Randy throughout his teenage years. At nineteen he shifted focus toward music, adopting the name Millenary to merge rap with R&B-inflected crooning on the 2016 debut single “Pa’ Mi Nama.” He continued refining that rap-R&B hybrid through the late 2010s on “El Nuevo Gato Tuyo” and “Pal de Mujeres,” yet achieved greater traction once he moved into Latin trap with “Amber Rose” and reggaeton with “Celos.” Those recordings drew the attention of Farruko’s Carbon Fiber Music, which signed the artist in early 2019.
After adopting the moniker MILLY, Sánchez Troche made his label debut on the ensemble track “No,” where his talent for memorable melodies and fluid phrasing stood out amid contributions from Sech, Farruko, Miky Woodz, and Gigolo y la Exce. Capitalizing on tens of millions of streams, he repeated the collaborative formula with “Date Tu Guille,” again joined by Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro. The close of 2019 saw him testing solo material through relationship-focused cuts such as “Lucifer” and “Hoy.”
MILLY soon reached worldwide audiences. Although “No Te Enamores” from 2020 registered underground notice, its remix quickly eclipsed the original. Featuring Farruko, Nio García, Jay Wheeler, and Amenazzy, the “No Te Enamores (Remix)” accumulated hundreds of millions of streams globally and logged fifteen weeks on the Billboard charts, reaching a peak of number 74. That momentum extended into the first months of 2021, after which the vocalist resurfaced in May with “Tas Bota.”
