Biography
In the course of a 1930s session for the celebrated string band Mississippi Sheiks, a handful of its players also tracked several numbers issued under the name Mississippi Mud Steppers. Walter Vinson handled guitar, Charlie McCoy played banjo and mandolin, and fiddler Lonnie Chatmon—most likely—joined them to cut six pieces, among them the instrumental “Alma Waltz,” for Okeh’s hillbilly series.
