Biography
Mitylion represents the solo outlet of New Jersey musician Ari Katz, whose primary renown stems from fronting the influential hardcore band Lifetime as well as additional projects including Zero Zero and Miss TK and the Revenge. During 2011, as Hurricane Irene approached his coastal residence in Asbury Park, Katz arranged for his family to evacuate inland while he remained to secure the house. He started composing songs amid the storm’s intensity, material that later became the ten tracks comprising Mitylion’s debut. Although grounded in hardcore and punk, the project’s sound merges glitchy synths, vintage soul, warm beachside vibes, and jagged pop. Don Giovanni Records issued Nite Flite, Katz’s first album under the Mitylion name, in late 2015.
