Biography
Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, reggaetón vocalist MJ rose swiftly to prominence through the 2008 release of his debut full-length album Mi Sentimiento and the accompanying smash hit lead single "He Venido." Born José A. Matos Negrón, he launched his career in association with DJ Negro and first broke into the reggaetón mainstream via "Dile," a track featured on the Luny Tunes mixtape album Los Benjamins: La Continuacion (2007). The exposure prompted a recording contract with Machete Music, the Universal Latino subsidiary label, under which he issued Mi Sentimiento (2008) as his first full-length album. The project’s lead single, "He Venido," proved a smash hit by reaching the top of the Billboard Latin Tropical Airplay chart.
