Biography
Emerging amid the stringent COVID-19 restrictions imposed at the outset of 2020, MMXX distilled the prevailing atmosphere of gloom and urgency into their first album, the doom metal statement Sacred Cargo, which surfaced in 2022.
The endeavor originated once ex-Foreshadowing guitarist Andrea Chiodetti entered lockdown during Italy’s earliest pandemic wave and sought an expressive outlet for his mounting sense of hopelessness and apprehension. Remote collaboration soon connected him with Daylight Dies bassist Egan O'Rourke and drummer Jesse Haff, both located in New York, and the three began shaping material that mirrored their collective pandemic experiences. Separate vocalists were enlisted for individual tracks, among them Swallow the Sun’s Mikko Kotamäki, Antimatter’s Mick Moss, and My Dying Bride’s Aaron Stainthorpe. After several singles appeared, the completed album Sacred Cargo was released in late 2022 through Candlelight Records.
