A couple of years after issuing the predominantly downcast Innocents, Moby resurfaced with fresh and fully energized recordings issued under the name Moby & the Void Pacific Choir. Still working with Daniel Miller’s Mute label, he launched the project in 2015 via the rocker “The Light Is Clear in My Eyes” and the techno-gospel-flavored “Almost Loved,” two robust, cathartic singles. That same year Moby & the Void Pacific Choir contributed the track “Moonlit Sky” to close Robin Schulz’ album Sugar. Following a run of “Almost Love” remixes handled by Monkey Safari and LO’99, the ensemble released its album These Systems Are Failing in 2016.
