Biography
In 2012, Parisian musicians Julie Freyri and Jonathan Fitoussi established the synth duo Model Alpha. Working exclusively with analog synthesizers, they produce inviting, entrancing instrumentals shaped by cosmic, arpeggio-driven electronic creators ranging from Laurie Spiegel to Manuel Göttsching, together with Detroit techno originators Juan Atkins and Carl Craig. The resulting tracks fuse expansive atmospheres with propulsive beats and at times suggest a shadowy, film-score atmosphere, situating the project alongside other synth revivalists such as Xander Harris and Pye Corner Audio. Model Alpha first issued its debut album, Dimensions, in digital format near the close of 2014; the following year the French label Desire Records brought the recording out on vinyl.
