Model Home operates as an experimental hip-hop duo based in Washington, D.C., pairing lyricist NAPPYNAPPA with producer Pat Cain and drawing on a rotating cast of additional contributors that shifts from one release to the next. The project's unpolished, spontaneous improvisations set NAPPYNAPPA's heavily processed vocals against sputtering drum machines and fractured electronics, evoking the avant-rap outbursts associated with underground figures Sensational and Occasional Detroit. Highlights from the project's extended sequence of self-released digital albums were gathered on the 2020 LP One Year, while full-length efforts such as 2021's both feet en th infinite explored more danceable grooves. A second compilation, 2022's Saturn in the Basement, featured a collaboration with Japanese experimental icon Phew.

NAPPYNAPPA (Davonte Squire) began attracting attention within the D.C. hip-hop community near the start of 2017 at age 20. New Balance, issued by Babe City Records, launched an active stretch of solo EPs, albums, and mixtapes. At the same time, Model Home initiated its series of numerically titled digital albums in June 2018, arriving at 6 by the following January. Their debut album received a vinyl pressing from the enigmatic Ornette Coleman Fiend Club imprint, and the duo took their high-intensity live sets beyond the D.C. region. Future Times put out Model Home's 8, which incorporated contributions from Dolo Percussion (also known as label founder Maxmillion Dunbar of Beautiful Swimmers and formerly of the noise-rap group Food for Animals).

Following the release of Model Home's 16th recording in 2020, Warp sublabel Disciples brought out One Year, which drew tracks from the first eight albums. The label additionally issued a cassette version of One Year's material reworked by Detroit experimental turntablist crew Pure Rave. After Model Home self-released 17, the single "REV" b/w "Flesh" surfaced on Future Times ahead of the full-length SE. The group also joined His Name Is Alive for a mixtape called Versions Returned. Don Giovanni released Model Home's LP both feet en th infinite in 2021. Saturn in the Basement, which assembled selections from 11 through 18, came out via Disciples in 2022. Phew, another artist on the label, contributed to "Naked Intentions," the collection's sole previously unreleased track.
