Biography
The Modern Skirts emerged as a smart, melodic Brit-rock-inspired indie pop quartet built on the combined skills of guitarist/vocalist Jay Gulley, guitarist/pianist/vocalist JoJo Glidewell, bassist/vocalist Phillip Brantley, and drummer John Swint. Entering Athens, GA’s crowded music scene in 2004, the group issued its debut EP, This Is Winning and Thinking. Soaring harmonies paired with an obvious gift for songcraft quickly secured an attentive audience, which in turn produced numerous awards and both regional and national showcase performances that led directly to the 2005 release of the full-length Catalogue of Generous Men.
