Biography
Moiré, the house and techno artist based in London, England, whose name stems from the term for overlaid graphic patterns, entered the scene in early 2013 with the 12" Never Sleep. Werkdiscs, the label operated by Darren Cunningham, aka Actress—one of the producer’s main inspirations alongside Theo Parrish—issued the record, which also contained a duly scuffed-up and hypnotizing Actress remix supplied by Cunningham. A few months afterward, Moiré delivered a further 12" via the Netherlands’ Rush Hour label. Another Werkdiscs 12" came the next year, setting the stage for the nine-track album Shelter, a sustained elaboration of the artist’s low-key but emotive approach. Legendary Belgian electronic label R&S signed Moiré in 2015 and put out the Gel EP that October. Yet another label move followed in 2016, this time with Spectral Sound releasing the Lines + Colours EP, while 2017 brought No Future, the producer’s debut on Spectral’s sister imprint Ghostly International.
