Biography

Molina, born Rebecca Maria Stougaard in 1995, creates avant-pop as a producer and songwriter drawing on her Danish and Chilean roots. Early on she immersed herself in the work of Björk and Kate Bush, then went on to master production techniques independently. From that foundation she shaped a left-field electronic pop sound that remains hazy yet danceable, threading unexpected sonic details through strands of Scandinavian dark wave, South American traditions, and Japanese experimental electronica. After issuing her debut single, she achieved viral attention in 2018 with the hypnotic track “Hey Kids,” which later appeared on her second EP, Vanilla Shell. Ahead of her first album, the singles “Scorpio” and “Organs” (featuring ML Buch) were released; When You Wake Up arrived in October 2024 via the Danish imprint Escho.
