Biography
Mondo Drag, the neo-psychedelic rock band, originated in Davenport, Iowa, through the founding contributions of Johnnie Cluney on drums and vocals, Nolan Girard on rhythm guitar and vocals, John Gomino on keyboards and saxophone, Dennis Hockaday on bass, and Jake Sheley on lead guitar. Alive Naturalsound Records issued the group’s first album, New Rituals, on January 26, 2010. Their next seven-track effort, retaining a comparably psychedelic character, incorporates Zack Anderson on bass and Cory Berry on drums, both previously of Radio Moscow. After Mondo Drag was tracked, bassist Andrew O’Neil and drummer Ventura Garcia formed a third rhythm section and the band shifted its base to Oakland, California, where Kozmik Artifactz released the album in spring 2015.
