Biography
Growing up in Florida, rapper Money Rod—real name Rodney McClain—first encountered music through participation in a church choir during his youth, yet the pull of North Miami street life steered him toward rap instead. Alongside his childhood friend Young Trell, he launched Auder Limits in 2007 before linking up with Lu and Hugo Diaz, better known as the Diaz Brothers, whose prior credits included work for Lloyd Banks, Pitbull, and DJ Khaled. Underground solo efforts such as the Facts of Life EP later brought him wider attention. He kept working with Hugo Diaz and, in 2012, issued the more commercial single “Better Part,” widely viewed as his first official solo release. Additional tracks including “Plain Jane,” “Sip Sumn,” and “A Journey,” which appeared through 2016, likewise aimed for radio exposure.
