Emerging from the intersection of electronic dance beats and global rhythmic traditions that encompass reggae, dub, son montuno, rock and additional styles, Monsieur Job functions as both a performing group and a production unit. Toby Holguin launched the project, which surfaced initially through the 2017 release “Chow Chow Eyyy Pow Pow” and later registered on the charts with its first album, Bass Pa$$i 1, in 2018.
A Cali, Colombia native, the musician, producer and DJ Toby Holguin maintains bases in Bogota, Colombia, Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California. After establishing Basswalk Records and building an early reputation in electronic and chillout music, he sought a livelier, more varied direction by joining forces with fellow Colombians Charlie Illera and Leo Jaramillo plus Bulgarian artist Stan Kolev, each of whom brought DJ and performance backgrounds. Under the Monsieur Job banner the four pursued a hybrid sound drawing on Latin, hip-hop, reggae, rock & roll and EDM sources.
The collective issued its debut single, “Chow Chow Eyyy Pow Pow” featuring No Mercy, via Basswalk Latino in October 2017, where the track surpassed 770,000 streams. Bass Pa$$i 1 followed in April 2018 and entered the Heatseekers charts at number 24. One month later the group delivered the sequel album Bass Pa$$i 2, then in June 2018 assembled two mix collections both titled Bora Bora Ibiza.
