Monsters Are Waiting showcases an indie rock style that blends sultry vocals with new wave touches, spotlighting the skills of Annalee Fery on vocals and keyboard, Eric Gardner on drums, Jonathan Siebels—who co-founded Eve 6—on guitar and bass, plus Andrew Clark on bass and guitar. The Los Angeles outfit came together in 2005, borrowing its name from one of the group’s own tracks while building experience on the city’s party circuit. Those initial gigs opened the door to a tour supporting stellastarr* and Editors. October 2005 brought the release of a self-titled EP via the band’s website and Amoeba Records, with the full-length debut Fascination arriving in 2006. That November the musicians journeyed to New York for the CMJ Music Marathon, after which they set out on a national tour alongside She Wants Revenge and Pretty Girls Make Graves.
