Biography
Justin Giles Wilcox, the Brooklyn-based singer and songwriter, introduced his solo project Monteagle in 2018. On the debut album Midnight Noon, the music merged reflective, weathered Americana with innovative sonic layers.
A Tennessee native, Wilcox first drew attention as frontman of the raucous Chattanooga indie-rock band Moonlight Bride. After relocating to New York he joined songwriter Jeffrey Silverstein in the group Nassau, where his writing turned toward introspective material that blended country and folk elements with atmospheric backdrops. The pair issued the 2016 EP Hoss, then followed it a year later with the full-length Heron. To release his own songs Wilcox took the name Monteagle from a mountain near his Eastern Tennessee roots. The 2018 Monteagle debut Midnight Noon extended the direction of Nassau, setting contemporary textures against grounded songs that evoked his rural origins.
