Biography
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, the experimental pop collective Mood Rings comprises vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Will Fussell alongside guitarists Tymb Gratz and Seth Bolton, bassist Chris Alley and drummer Peter Couthorn. Originally assembled in 2009 under the moniker Dirty Girls, the group blended 1960s girl-group pop with grunge textures before adopting its current name and sonic direction a year later. The January 2011 release of its first EP, Sweater Weather Forever, drew from sources that included Felt and the Durutti Column in addition to canonical shoegaze acts. Although the Promise Me Eternity 7" appeared that September, the musicians had already begun tracking their debut full-length at Gary's Electric studio in Brooklyn. Mexican Summer put out the Pathos y Lagrimas/333 single in October 2012 and followed with the band's first album, VPI Harmony, in June 2013.
