Biography
In 1982 the West End district of London gave rise to Mood Six, a neo-psychedelic combo assembled from the remains of mod-revival outfits including the Merton Parkas and the VIP's, with Phil Ward, Tony Conway, Andy Godfrey, Guy Morley, Paul Shurey, and Simon Smith comprising its founding membership. Two tracks on the A Splash of Colour compilation marked the group’s first appearance and instantly placed it at the leading edge of the fleeting British psychedelia revival. A contract with EMI yielded the official debut single “Hanging Around,” yet the label terminated the arrangement once the follow-up “She’s Too Far (Out)” failed to achieve commercial traction. The Psycho label hosted the 1985 LP The Difference Is…, after which the band switched to Cherry Red and delivered A Matter Of! the following year. Emerging from an extended interval of apparent inactivity, Mood Six resurfaced in 1993 with And This Is It, released on its own Lost Recording Company imprint.
