Biography
Tim Garratt, a London-based experimental musician and engineer, channels his solo ambient project Moon Zero through unorthodox venues such as churches. There he constructs thick layers of dark, mournful texture from extensive tape loops, effects, and battered equipment. The resulting pieces feel immersive yet gritty, gradually acquiring rhythmic shape without beats or percussion. Moon Zero first surfaced through contributions to Futuresequence compilations beginning in 2012; the same label released the project’s debut EP, Tombs, in 2013 together with a remix EP. Denovali, a German label, reissued Tombs in 2014 and simultaneously brought out its successor, Loss. A subsequent CD combined both vinyl EPs and added four selections drawn from Tombs Remixes. In 2015 the label issued Moon Zero’s self-titled debut full-length.
