Biography
Chicago's Moonrise Nation craft introspective indie pop that draws on folk traditions, distinguished by flowing arrangements and layered vocal harmonies. Childhood friends Emma McCall on vocals and guitar along with sisters Arden Baldinger on keyboards and vocals and Eva Baldinger on bass, cello, and vocals came together to form the group officially in 2013 after first playing music during their high-school years. Their debut EP was tracked alongside David Z., a veteran whose credits include work with Prince, a-ha, and Buddy Guy. Bobby Z of Prince and the Revolution, David's brother, then placed the band on his Zinc Records imprint, which issued the self-titled Moonrise Nation in 2014. Stephen Shirk, operating out of SHIRK Studios and known for HearYa Live Sessions, helmed the full-length Glamour Child, released in July 2017; an Audiotree Live session EP appeared the following month.
