Biography
Mord translates to “murder” in Norwegian, the term vocalist/guitarist/bassist Nordra selected when he launched the grim, misanthropic black metal outfit in 1999. Working alone, Nordra tracked a pair of demos during 2001 and 2003, then recruited Polish drummer Necrolucas ahead of the third demo, “Unholy Inquisition.” That recording attracted a sizable following among devotees of Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone, and Impaled Nazarene, due in large measure to its standout cover of Darkthrone’s “Inn I De Dype Skogers Favn,” and also caught the ear of the U.S. label Southern Lord. Under that imprint Mord issued its first full-length album, Christendom Perished, in March 2006.
