Biography
After Choking Victim disbanded, Ezra Kire established Morning Glory as a New York City punk outfit. What began as Kire’s lone endeavor yielded the group’s first album, This Is No Time ta Sleep, which he wrote, performed, and tracked entirely on his own in 2001. During those initial years the frontman carried forward the ska-punk approach of his earlier work, a direction that persisted on the 2003 EP The Whole World Is Watching. Once that second release appeared, activity largely ceased while Kire devoted himself to Leftöver Crack, the band he had launched in 2000 alongside fellow Choking Victim alumni. Following his departure from that group in 2009, he turned back to Morning Glory and reshaped its sound for Poets Were My Heroes, issued by Fat Wreck Chords in 2012. With the addition of guitarists Adam Schrager and Shawn Gardiner, bassist “Metal” Chris, and drummer Early Gates, the lineup issued War Psalms in 2014, a more celebratory recording that reflected further refinement of the band’s style.
