Biography
Identical twins Robert and Steven Morris entered the world in New York and launched a shared musical journey in childhood, taking up classical piano instruction at seven. During adolescence the pair turned their attention to rock & roll, mastering guitar and bass on their own while beginning to compose original material. Following completion of studies at Fordham University and Berklee College of Music, they assembled the Morris Brothers Band, issuing Stand Out in 1996 and Pop the Trunk in 1999, after which they continued independently under the Morris Brothers name. The 2007 album One Less Dream, helmed by producer Paul Boutin at Babyface’s Los Angeles facility, came out on Miles High Records. Beyond their rock endeavors, the siblings have performed in Broadway pit orchestras for Hairspray, Mamma Mia, and The Wedding Singer while also supplying music and lyrics for the stage production Once Around the Sun.
