Biography
Norwegian pianist Morten Gunnar Larsen has emerged as a contemporary advocate for traditional ragtime. Recognition first arrived with his debut release, the 1983 album Echo of Spring, which secured the Spellmansprisen, Norway’s counterpart to the Grammy. Later recordings such as 1989’s Maple Leaf Rag and 1999’s Fingerbreaker added to his catalog, yet he also drew praise for arranging, directing, and sharing the stage in the off-Broadway production Jelly Roll! The Music and the Man.
