Biography
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Mount Carmel delivers lengthy, riff-driven jams steeped in the blues-based rock lineage of Cream, Blue Cheer, and Black Sabbath. As a compact power trio anchored in vintage sounds, the outfit appeared an unlikely match for Siltbreeze, the imprint known for championing the contemporary “shitgaze” wave of loose lo-fi acts including Times New Viking and Psychedelic Horseshit. Matthew Reed, Patrick Reed, and Kevin Skubak nevertheless joined the roster for the band’s self-titled debut in 2010 and remained with the Ohio label for the 2012 sequel Real Women. The trio later shifted to Alive Naturalsound, issuing the third album Get Pure in 2014.
