Biography
Alex Germains, Ceri James, and Tomas Kelar craft the polished electronic rhythms that define the Mountaineers. Originating from Wales yet now based in Liverpool, the band first attracted notice from Deltasonic’s Alan Willis during the late 1990s. Their official introduction arrived in late 2001 through a limited-edition EP that the British press quickly dubbed the “Red Thong” EP. Momentum continued, leading the group to sign with Mute in the U.S. two years later and release a self-titled EP. The band’s debut studio album, Messy Century, appeared in late 2003.
