Biography
Featuring guitarist Robby Grant from Big Ass Truck, Mouserocket marks the newest collective project from that musician. The band characterizes its sound as "cello-pop with face-melter noise interludes." Smart, moody guitar riffs combine with often eerie vocals and a singular mix of distorted guitars alongside classic cello, rendering Mouserocket distinctive while remaining approachable. The five-piece lineup includes Memphis music powerhouse Alicja Trout (the Lost Sounds, River City Tanlines, and many more) handling guitar and occasional vocals, Hemant Gupta on bass, drummer Robert Barnett (also of Big Ass Truck), and cellist Jonathan Kirkscey (Memphis Symphony Orchestra). A three-song 7" appeared on Wrecked 'Em Wreckords, followed by a full-length self-titled album in 2004. Plans call for a second LP in early 2007.
