Mr Real

Born as Okafor Uchenna Victor in Lagos State, Nigerian rapper Mr Real honed a gritty, rhythmic street-hop style and once belonged to the rap collective Plantashun Boiz, whose members also included Faze and 2Face Idibia. Active from the mid-2000s onward, he built experience slowly through sessions with Klever Jay, Seriki, and Terry G before achieving sudden visibility in 2017 via the street-hop anthem “Legbegbe.” That track ascended to the summit of national charts while weaving references to iPhones 1–8 into its hook, prompting a Best Rap Artist nomination at the 2018 Headies and a Nigeria Entertainment Award for Hottest Single of the Year. Earlier guest spots on cuts by D’banj and Jaywon had already secured a major-label contract with Sony, after which he issued a steady stream of singles and joined forces with CDQ and Slimcase. Further appearances arrived on recordings by DJ Neptune, Jaywon, and DJ Lambo, followed by the 2019 release “Onigbese” and the 2020 Tplan collaboration “Falipupa.”
