Multicast Dynamics

Samuel van Dijk, a Dutch producer and graphic designer formerly recognized for his propulsive electro-techno output under VC-118A and aquatic dub techno as Mohlao, launched the more immersive, experimental Multicast Dynamics alias in 2011. This project sustains the submerged, aquatic mood associated with Mohlao while abandoning rhythmic structures for deeper, more exploratory soundscapes shaped by both natural environments and outer space. Its debut album, Scape, centered on dry land and first appeared on cassette via the Finnish label Kaukana Väijyy Ambient in 2014. Denovali Records took on the project the next year, simultaneously reissuing that debut alongside the second album, the vast, oceanic Aquatic System. Later in 2015 came Scandinavia, which drew from the frozen arctic tundra. Early 2016 brought Outer Envelopes, the space-themed release that completed the four-part series. Multicast Dynamics continued afterward, issuing its fifth album, Continental Ruins, in 2017.
