My Orchard weaves delicate electronica accents into its infectious, guitar-propelled pop-rock across a growing catalog of releases on Sweden’s Massproduktion imprint. The Stockholm group first moved toward wider domestic recognition in the closing years of the 1990s through its appearance on the 1998 One Try Records anthology The Few and the Proud. Its first album, Grebo, arrived the following year on Massproduktion, the same imprint that would host every subsequent recording. After contributing a track to the 2000 compilation We’re Only in It for the Money, the band issued the Too Cool for School EP; its title song achieved the group’s strongest airplay to date, remaining in heavy rotation for weeks on Sweden’s National Radio P3, while the B-side “Out of Focus” received comparable exposure. Those singles paved the way for the 2001 full-lengths 5 Years Long and As Tall As a Dream. Keyboardist-vocalist Jenny Sjöström came aboard once the sessions for the latter album wrapped in late 2000, joining vocalist-guitarist Johan Sigerud, bassist-vocalist Tobias Lundberg, guitarist Odd Wetzenstein, and drummer Jon Lindroth. Her arrival expanded the ensemble’s live activity, leading to performances throughout Sweden and in London and New York.
