Biography
Chicago's Mystechs revolve primarily around the talents of keyboardist and songwriter Emil Hyde, augmented by numerous additional musicians and creative partners. The ensemble's sonic palette resists straightforward definition, traversing diverse territories that include surprising transitions from indie rock into pieces evoking new wave aesthetics. Though launched in 1999 as an exclusively electronic outfit, the Mystechs progressively integrated influences from established musical traditions. Under the auspices of the independent Omega Point imprint, the band has produced a trio of albums to this point: Fantaseed from 1999, followed by Dark Age Disco in 2000 and Unholy Land in 2001.
