Nashville-based musician Namir Blade crafts self-reflective yet surrealist hip-hop rooted in personal experience, science fiction, and video games. National notice first arrived with his mellow, introspective Aphelion's Traveling Circus in 2020, after which he joined producer L'Orange for the bluesy, psychedelic Imaginary Everything the next year; the complex, dystopian Metropolis followed in 2022.

Born in Milwaukee and raised in Nashville, Blade began tinkering with music during childhood, assembling a rap crew in middle school while also crafting video game-inspired beats. He later picked up guitar and explored lo-fi indie folk before returning to hip-hop, issuing the 2013 mixtape ScatterbRAIN as Rain and then under his given name. Further releases encompassed house tracks, the imaginary video game soundtrack O.S.T Worlds and Dreams, Vol. 1 (2018), Flying Lotus-inspired instrumental hip-hop, and futuristic R&B.

Mello Music Group put out the self-produced full-length Aphelion's Traveling Circus in 2020, an album that fused introspection with dystopian fantasy. Blade next teamed with elusive beatmaker L'Orange on the raw, trippy Imaginary Everything, which surfaced in May 2021 and featured guest appearances from Quelle Chris, Fly Anakin, and Jordan Webb. His self-produced, home-recorded Metropolis arrived in 2022, pairing introspective lyrics with cyberpunk-inspired imagery.
