Biography
Ghana served as the birthplace of percussionist Tsiboe, who spent a period residing in the United States before settling in the United Kingdom. Associations in London with the London-based Dade Krama, Moiré Music Drum Orchestra, Oumou Sangaré, and Ali Farka Touré built sufficient standing to support a move into solo work. Reviewers greeted Asem Ni! Trouble Dat! with little warmth, instead questioning the decision to fold western styles into the material. The track ‘Kokofe Hene Mbabut’ confirmed Tsiboe’s command of drumming, yet further songs suffered from weak production or from an ensemble that stretched itself while chasing innovation.
