Nancy Harrow's 1960 Candid album Wild Women Don't Have the Blues generated immediate notice, though years passed before she pursued singing as a primary vocation. Classical piano training had occupied her extensively from age seven, preceding a turn first toward dance and subsequently toward jazz performance. Once the Candid session and her 1962 Atlantic album were behind her, Harrow devoted herself to raising a family and stepped away from music for an extended stretch. She reentered the field in 1975, appearing regularly on Audiophile, Finesse, Inner City, Tono, Gazell, and Soul Note. A capable bop-rooted vocalist with a swinging approach, she supplied every composition for her 1993 Lost Lady album.
