Biography
Born in 1983 in Canada, Striemer spent her childhood on a hobby farm in the countryside of Malagash Point, Nova Scotia, where the majority of her schooling took place at home. During her mid-teens the family moved to Florida, USA, and it was there that she first committed seriously to building a music career. An initial development deal with Epic Records tried to position her as a teen pop act, yet plans for an album collapsed amid corporate changes at the label; once freed from the contract, she returned to working independently. That setback encouraged her to focus more intently on composing original songs. Back in Canada by 2003, she cut a demo CD and started playing informal shows in Ontario bookstores. Toronto businessman Steven Nowack caught one of those performances and offered to fund her first full-length record, establishing the S Records imprint to do so. He brought in producer Narada Michael Walden for the sessions, which featured guitarist Carlos Santana as a guest on the standout cut “Cars.” Issued across Canada in late 2006, Images blended ballads with melodic pop-rock tracks and climbed onto the national charts.
