In the wake of Anglo-Saxon boy bands such as Backstreet Boys and Take That that dominated the 1990s, the quartet Nash established a distinct place within the Spanish market through melodic pop tracks and vibrant dance routines aimed chiefly at adolescents. Esteban Piñero Camacho (“Basty”), Michael Hennet Sotomayor (“Mikel”), Francisco Javier Álvarez Colinet (“Javi”), and Antonio Martos Ortiz (“Ony”) came together to launch Nash in 2005. Legal complications forced the group to adopt the name D’Nash, under which they released their first album, Capaz de Todo, in 2006. Producers Carlos Quintero and Mar de Pablos shaped a sound that merged pop with modern R&B and understated hip-hop elements, resulting in modest commercial performance of 20,000 units sold. The following year D’Nash entered a televised selection process to become Spain’s Eurovision 2007 entrant, securing wider visibility. Their chosen entry, “I Love You Mi Vida,” placed twentieth among the twenty-four competing acts. A revised edition of Capaz de Todo appeared later in 2007, augmented by bonus material that featured both “I Love You Mi Vida” and a version of “Stand by Me.”
