Biography
Raised in Phoenix, AZ as the youngest of eight adopted children, Christian songwriter and singer Nate Huss grew up in what he has described as a true "United Nations family." A Korean sister, a Mexican brother, a black brother and two white brothers surrounded him during those years, fostering the expansive, spiritual, and open-armed worldview that infuses his songwriting. His abilities as a writer and performer began to flourish in 2004 while enrolled at Northern Arizona University, where he took the stage in any available space ranging from dorm lobbies to coffee shops. At his brother's suggestion he entered a handful of showcase competitions, and three months afterward he claimed first place in the 2005 Gospel Music Association's Music in the Rockies vocal competition, an outcome that prompted him to move to Nashville and commit fully to music. He then teamed with writing partner Aaron Rice and producer Jamie Moore on material that Slanted Record eventually issued as Here with Me in 2008.
