Nations By The River

During a 2003 tour of their native Australia, the lauded alt-folk-country groups the Sleepy Jackson and Gelbison intermingled and gave birth to Nations by the River. Lead singer Luke Steele of the Sleepy Jackson teamed with Gelbison’s Kahn brothers, Edo and Nadav, to steer the fledgling outfit toward a closer, more roots-oriented expression of their common passion for country and folk. Ohad Rein of Old Man River joined the sessions for debut album Holes in the Valley, lending both voice and songwriting skill that anchored the nucleus of Nations by the River’s otherwise “open-door” roster.
